Heat therapy is prescribed by many doctors and physiotherapists. It dilates the blood vessels of the muscles to increase the flow of oxygen, which repairs the damaged tissue.
Heat also stimulates the sensory receptors in the skin, which means that applying heat can decrease pain signals to the brain and offer comfort :)
Heat allows the soft tissues to stretch, which helps decrease stiffness of joints.

Choice from 3 options of filler:
Rice: Provides a gentle, moist heat which promotes healing. Retains heat and warms quickly. Pleasant aroma.
Flaxseed: Provides a gentle, moist heat which promotes healing. The weight and softness of flaxseed is gentle and comforting. Molds easily to body due to the small size of the flaxseeds. Can also be chilled in the freezer to soothe fever or inflammations. Retains heat longer.
Rice & Flaxseed combination: Best of both options. Provides optimal heat retention, a pleasant aroma, weight and feel.

Directions:
To use warm:
Simply heat it in the microwave for 1 to 1 ½ minutes. Check temperature. Warm in 30 second intervals afterwards until desired temperature is reached. Extended periods of time in the microwave can slightly burn the rice, leading to a less desirable odour.
**Use caution when applying to skin. If the heating pad is too warm, it may cause burns. Check temperature over clothing first, not directly on skin. If it is too warm, let it cool down as needed.
To use cold:
Store the rice pack inside the freezer and use as needed.
